EU Workshop on Fostering Knowledge Valorization Through Citizen Engagement
Active8-Planet project coordinator participated as an external expert at an exploratory workshop on “Fostering Knowledge Valorization Through Citizen Engagement“, led and organized by the European Commission, DG Research & Innovation. It was a thought-provoking event where experienced speakers and participants came together to discuss and critically examine various models and activities for engaging citizens in co-creation processes and transforming data and research results into meaningful and sustainable products, solutions, and services.
The focus was on participatory value creation, exploring channels to engage diverse actors in the innovation and knowledge valorization processes, including citizens and the broader public. We delved into key questions surrounding the conditions and enabling factors for successful citizen engagement models, taking into account the phase of engagement, the pursued aims, and the involved actors.
As a result, we defined actionable points and provided recommendations for policymakers to maximize the transformation of research and innovation results into solutions that benefit society. The findings from this study will contribute to the upcoming HorizonEurope programs and other initiatives funded by the European Commission, DG Research & Innovation.
The Active8-Planet project played a vital role in the event by sharing its methodology and valuable insights gained from eight distinctive case study projects from Slovenia, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Sweden. We were honoured to have been part of this important dialogue. We look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on shaping future policies and fostering collaborative approaches that engage citizens in the knowledge valorization process.
