Active8-Planet Embarks on a Journey to Kenya
In the INSSPIRE Erasmus+ Capacity Building project, which we have recently acquired, our goal is to extend the application of Active8-Planet’s interdisciplinary and multi-sectoral co-creation methodology to novel domains and non-European countries. To achieve this, we have initiated partnerships with four prestigious African universities located in Kenya and Uganda, namely Maseno University, South Eastern Kenya University, Mbarara University of Science & Technology, and Makerere University. Together, we are establishing Real-Life Learning Lab Environments that will facilitate collaborative projects involving students, university educators, and external stakeholders, with a focus on sustainable food systems.
We just met in Kisumu, Kenya to initiate the discussions on ways to promote evidence-based inclusive education for sustainable development and to plan the case studies’ implementation phase. Through building intra-university capacity, strengthening university-community collaboration, and enhancing inter-university partnerships, we seek to develop higher education staff capacity and equip African students with the skills and experiences necessary to transform food systems and succeed in the future labour market. And Active8-Planet experiences and expertise are crucial for achieving this mission.
