Prof. Griet Verbeeck appointed as Sustainability coordinator at UHasselt
Sustainable transition – it is one of the key challenges of the 21st century and an important policy line for Hasselt University. Prof. Griet Verbeeck is the professor at the faculty of Architecture & Arts, head of the Sustainability Research and Education Team of ARCK Research Group at Hasselt University, and coordinator for Active8 Planet in UHasselt. As of February 2022, she will be leading the newly formed steering group, that strives to make Hasselt University more sustainable in all possible areas, ranging from campus management to education and research.
“Colleague Stefan Devoldere has already done a lot of preparatory work to formulate sustainable goals for Hasselt University,” says professor Verbeeck, “now we are going to roll out these university-wide with an enthusiastic group of employees.”
The group is broadly composed with employees and students who use their interests and expertise to realize the sustainable goals for Hasselt University. Depending on specific projects, other experts can also join. The steering group will also collaborate intensively with services and faculties so that sustainability becomes a spearhead throughout the organization.
